BREAKING SHOCKING NEWS: Newt Gingrich lies

We all remember New Gingrich's hissy fit during the CNN "Southern Republican Presidential Debate" last week in South Carolina where he unloaded on CNN's John King for asking a question about how he supposedly asked his second ex-wife for an open marriage and claimed he offered many witnesses to rebut the ABC News claim.

Well, turns out that wasn't exactly...or remotely true.  From Politico:

"Tonight, after persistent questioning by our staff, the Gingrich campaign concedes now Speaker Gingrich was wrong — both in his debate answer, and in our interview yesterday," King said on tonight's edition of John King USA. "Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond says the only people the Gingrich campaign offered to ABC were his two daughters from his first marriage."

Newt Gingrich, serial adulterer...lies?  I'm completely shocked!

Gabby Giffords and Business as usal in Washington

Gabrielle Giffords should be dead.

On January 8, 2011, she was shot in the head at point blank range by Jared Lee Loughner, which is just something you do not survive.  Anybody.  She should have died.

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords with her close friend,
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, D-Fla.
Yet, thanks to a quick thinking intern and the grace of God, there she was 382 days later, in the chamber of the House of Representatives, resigning her seat in Congress.

Giffords’ re-appearance in the political arena during a particular ugly point in politics (where stories about open marriages and money from “Super PACs” are dominating news cycles daily) reminds us that it is time for this country to get its act together and start taking things seriously.

Shame on you, Mr. Speaker

Newt Gingrich led the impeachment of a president, based on oral sex.

Newt Gingrich made the platform of the 1998 mid-term elections oral sex.

Newt Gingrich had to resign as Speaker of the House because of that act of oral sex.

Yet somehow, in 2012, Newt Gingrich is running for president of the United States as the “morally conservative” candidate.  To me, that would be like Jim Leyland claiming he’s been a champion of sabremetrics and baseball’s statistical revolution.

By now, most everybody knows the story of Gingrich’s second ex-wife (yes, the “moral” candidate has been married three times), Marianne Gingrich saying that the former House Speaker asked her to live in anopen marriage, then eventually divorced her after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  That’s not the issue here, true or not, morally reprehensible or not.
